GR&S, Inc. Announces Completion of Holly Springs Fire Station 1
Dedication & Open House Wednesday, June 28, 2006
Geo. Raper & Son, Inc. (GR&S, Inc.) announces the completion of the new Holly Springs Fire Station 1, the town’s firefighting headquarters. The $3 million, approximately 18,000 square-foot building, located at 700 Flint Point Lane off Holly Springs Road (near Bass Lake Road), was completed in April. The new building will be open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, and a fire hose uncoupling, the firefighters’ variation of a ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The new station, which replaced a small, prefabricated building on Main Street, is nearly four times the size of the former station with a full-service kitchen, dining area and day room, administrative offices, 13 bedrooms, and three drive- through equipment bays which can house three fire trucks. A training room and fitness center are located on the ground floor of the building.
“We are very proud that we had the opportunity to work on such an important project for the Town of Holly Springs,” said Steve Raper, director of construction. “Together, with Little Diversified Architecture Consulting, we worked diligently to construct the best possible functioning space to meet the demanding needs of the dedicated and deserving firefighters who work around the clock at the fire station on behalf of the safety of the town’s citizens.”
The new station serves downtown Holly Springs, areas off Holly Springs Road toward Cary and Main St. toward Apex.
